Advocacy/Public Policy

We could not do this important work without our volunteers. LifeWire is always in need of volunteers to staff our after-hours hotline, provide clerical assistance, support our clients, help plan fundraisers, and do much more. Plus, our volunteer program is flexible and fun! Your energy and compassion can make all the difference in the world to a victim of domestic violence. As a LifeWire volunteer you will learn new skills, gain valuable information and have the satisfaction of working to end domestic violence.

Volunteer Opportunities
Direct Service Volunteers work directly with the survivors of domestic violence that LifeWire serves. LifeWire’s comprehensive training program prepares volunteers to assist survivors of domestic violence in dealing with the traumatic impact of family violence. Our 25-hour training session includes domestic violence education, crisis intervention skills, working with children who have witnessed domestic violence, navigating systems, and much more. To learn more about the mandatory training requirements to become a domestic violence advocate, please visit the Washington State Legislative website.

To Become a Direct Service Volunteer:
  1. Fill out the Volunteer Application and WA State Background Check. Both forms can be found on our new Volunteer Website.
  2. After you apply, we will schedule an Interview for you with the Volunteer Program Coordinator and support staff.
  3. Attend the mandatory New Volunteer Orientation on October 5th from 6-8pm.
  4. Attend the mandatory Domestic Violence Advocacy Training March 7 to April 2 on Monday and Wednesday evenings from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. with a special all-day Helpline training on Saturday April 2 from 10: a.m. - 4:30 p.m. More details on the upcoming schedule can be found on the Volunteer Website .
  5. Pay the $100 training Fee*.

*please note that we will never turn someone away for financial hardship, and to please let Allison know if the fee is a barrier for you.

For more information on LifeWire volunteer opportunities, please visit our Volunteer Website or contact Allison Jurkovich, Volunteer Coordinator, at or 425-562-8840 ext. 358.

Support Service Volunteers, or those not working directly with survivors, immensely impact the work that we do in other ways. If you are interested in supporting LifeWire's mission but are unable to attend the training or are interested in volunteering in a different capacity, we have plenty of jobs for you! LifeWire has opportunities to help with administration, fundraising, community education and much more.

For more information on non-direct service LifeWire programming volunteer opportunities, please visit our Volunteer Website or contact Allison Jurkovich, Volunteer Coordinator, at or 425-562-8840 ext. 358.

Fundraising and Event Planning
LifeWire hosts two major fundraising events annually and we need your help! Our annual Fall Breakfast and Spring Gala provide our incredible donors the opportunity to directly support LifeWire's work to end domestic violence.

For more information on LifeWire event and fundraising volunteer opportunities, contact Samantha Tripoli, Communications and Event Specialist, at 425-562-8840 ext. 249 or Our Support Service Volunteers do not need to complete the 25-Hour Direct Service Training. You are welcome to attend the first night of training if interested on finding out about our history, programs and services.

Partner Agencies and Professionals may also attend our training! If you are interested in attending our Domestic Violence Advocacy Training as a professional partner, you are not required to interview or attend the orientation, but we still ask that you submit an Application and Background Check however. Thank you!

Learn More About Becoming an LifeWire Volunteer
Take some time to read through the information on our Volunteer Website. Because of the nature of our work, it is important to ensure that our volunteers are well trained, responsible and sensitive to the issues of domestic violence. Note that all volunteer jobs require an orientation to LifeWire and domestic violence. We ask that all LifeWire volunteers attend training for multiple reasons, but most importantly so you will have the tools you need to have a rewarding volunteer experience.
